The partially-completed headquarters of the Translations Genomics Research Institute reached a landmark in its construction this week as officials gathered for its topping-off ceremony, marking the placement of the structure's highest point.
The $46 million, 170,000-square-foot facility, located near the intersection of Fillmore and Fifth Streets, will be home to thousands of researchers, employees, and students. Tenants will include TGen, International Genomics Consortium, and the Arizona Biomedical Collaborative, a coalition of state universities.
"We are going to be doing so many groundbreakings and topping-offs in downtown," said Mayor Phil Gordon in the Arizona Republic. "This is just another example of how dynamic this (area) is."
