The application process for the 2009 Flinn Scholarship is now closed. Applications are currently being reviewed; semifinalist interviews will occur in January, 2009.
Information about the 2010 application process will be available in August, 2009. In advance, we suggest you read this page plus Strategies for Success, Qualifications, and Frequently Asked Question.
The Flinn Scholars program uses an electronic application, allowing students to save and check their work, then send their completed application to the Flinn Foundation with a simple click of the mouse.
To begin the process, applicants log on to an external Web site. There they register their name and choose a password, and the Web site will guide them through the entire process. The site is a major online college application provider which will protect your privacy.
The following segments comprise the online application: a biographical and family data form; a personal information sheet on school and community activities, employment, and current studies; and three essay questions. In addition, two teacher recommendations and a report from your guidance counselor are required.
These must also be submitted electronically. Submission details will be explained on the application Web site.
In addition to submitting an online report, guidance counselors must mail a copy of your transcripts, including information on course work, class rank, grade-point average, and scores on standardized tests. It is your responsibility to ensure that all application components are submitted and received by the Flinn Foundation by the deadline, expected to be in mid-October, 2009. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
